Chiropractic Adjustments

A chiropractic adjustment is a precise, controlled force applied to a joint that has stopped moving the way it should. When a joint loses normal motion, the muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia around it stop working efficiently — and that is usually when pain shows up.

The goal is not to put a bone back in place. Nothing is out of place. The goal is to restore normal movement to a restricted joint so the tissue around it can do its job again.

About that popping sound

The pop catches most people off guard the first time. It is not bone moving and it is not cartilage grinding. It is a gas bubble forming in the joint fluid as the joint is stretched, the same thing that happens when you crack a knuckle. Patients typically describe the sensation as relieving rather than painful, and an adjustment can be performed without it when that is preferable.

What we commonly treat

Neck pain, low back pain, mid-back stiffness, headaches, rib pain, and joint restriction through the hips, shoulders, knees and ankles. We also see a high volume of auto accident injuries, VA referrals and Medicare patients.

Adjusting is rarely the whole plan

Restoring joint motion is a starting point, not a finish line. If the movement pattern that created the restriction never changes, the restriction comes back — which is why most patients get adjusted alongside movement rehabilitation, soft tissue therapy, or dry needling, depending on what the exam finds.

That combination is what makes this clinic different. Most offices in the region adjust and stop there.

Schedule an appointment with Dr. Zach Vahldick and we will start with an exam, not an assumption.
